Costs of legal representation are the costs of a professional attorney’s remuneration which the court awards to the winning party against the losing party (Article 98 of the Code of Civil Procedure). In payment cases their amount depends on the value of the case and follows the minimum rates set in the Minister of Justice regulations — identical for advocates and attorneys-at-law.
The minimum rate is a starting point: in complex or labour-intensive cases the court may award a higher amount, up to six times the minimum rate. For many categories of cases (e.g. divorce, employment cases) the regulations provide separate fixed rates which this calculator does not cover.

As a rule, the losing party reimburses them to the winning party (Article 98 of the Polish Code of Civil Procedure). Where claims are upheld only in part, the court may set costs off against each other or apportion them.
Yes — in cases requiring an increased workload the court may award a higher fee, but not exceeding six times the minimum rate or the value of the case.
No. The attorney’s remuneration is agreed in the contract with the client and may differ from the minimum rate. The rates in the regulations are used primarily to settle litigation costs between the parties and to remunerate court-appointed counsel.
